Language Tagalog ist the most widely used language of the Philippines. Originally, it was the language of the Tagales that are living in and around Manila. It is the origin of the official language Filipino. There are about 168 Known dialects.
Tagalog is a central Philipine language and belongs to the Austronesian language family. It is related to the Indonesian, Fijian, Maori, Hawaiian, Malagasy, Samoan, Tahitian, Chamorro, tetum and the Austronesian languages of Taiwa. Other languages have influenced Tagalog, such as Spanish, Fukien Chinese, English, Malay, Sanskrit, Arabic (via Malay/Spanish), and Northern Philippine languages like Kapampangan (spoken on the island of Luzon). |

Oldest document The first book written in Tagalog is from 1593, the Doctrina Cristiana. It was written in three different versions, one Spanish, one in the language Tagalog and with the Latin alphabet, and one in Baybayin (a pre-Hispanic Tagalog writing system).
