EDIT Holam Haser for Vav The glyph for this new Unicode 5.0 character should be identical in shape, size and vertical positioning to that used for U+05B9 HEBREW POINT HOLAM. The holam dot is used in two distinctive ways with the letter vav (U+05D5), when written above the right side of the letter, the dot indicates holam male, i.e. pronunciation of the vav as a long o vowel rather than as a consonant. When the holam is written above the left side of the vav, it indicates vav haluma, i.e. the combination of the consonant v and a long o sound, vo.

This new character is intended to encode the latter usage, the vav haluma,. Ergo, U+05D5 + U+05B9 = holam male, and U+05D5 + U+05BA = vav haluma.

The shape, size and height of the two holam dots are identical: the only difference is in their horizontal positioning relative to this one letter.
